Why do I always feel tired and fatigued?
Low Energy/Tired
/core-emotion/low-energy-tired
Feeling consistently tired and fatigued is often caused by ongoing demand outweighing recovery, rather than a single problem like poor sleep. When mental load, emotional stress, or constant stimulation stays high, energy can remain low even if rest appears adequate.
This kind of fatigue is common when the nervous system rarely fully downshifts. Frequent context-switching, background stress, irregular routines, or long periods of low-grade alertness can quietly drain capacity. Over time, energy feels blunted or heavy instead of naturally rising and falling.
Persistent fatigue is less about willpower and more about regulation. Addressing how energy is used and replenished throughout the day is often more effective than simply pushing through or resting longer.
Things to try
For one morning, delay stimulating inputs (news, fast music, multitasking) and check your energy level at midday, noticing whether fatigue feels lighter than on mornings with immediate stimulation.
Over two separate 3-minute periods, compare how your energy feels after sitting quietly versus after gentle background sound, checking which leaves you feeling more steady rather than flat. You should see two distinct tracks I've displayed below, which may help with this exercise.
For a single day, note whether your tiredness worsens after decision-heavy moments (planning, problem-solving), checking if fatigue increases more from mental load than from physical movement.
