At what age do you start feeling tired?
Low Energy/Tired
/core-emotion/low-energy-tired
There isn’t a specific age when people start feeling tired. Ongoing tiredness is more closely linked to lifestyle demands, stress levels, and recovery patterns than to age itself. Many people experience persistent fatigue during periods of increased responsibility, mental load, or disrupted routines, regardless of how old they are.
Energy often changes when demands quietly increase but recovery habits don’t adapt. Work pressure, caregiving, constant digital stimulation, or reduced downtime can accumulate over time, making tiredness feel age-related even when it’s not biologically driven.
While physical ageing can affect energy later in life, feeling tired “earlier than expected” is usually a sign of cumulative load rather than an age milestone. Adjusting how energy is spent and restored often has more impact than focusing on age alone.
Things to try
For one typical day, note what you’re doing during the hour before your energy drops, checking whether the dip follows mental effort, screen use, or social demand rather than the time of day itself.
Over two consecutive days, compare your energy at the same time each afternoon, checking whether it’s lower on the day with more cognitive or emotional demands rather than physical activity.
For a single evening, replace stimulating media with neutral background sound for 20 minutes, then check whether tiredness feels calmer or more agitated afterward, which can signal whether fatigue is demand-related rather than age-related. Give it a try with the two different style tracks I've added below.
