About the music:

Let yourself be gently carried into sleep with this atmospheric soundscape, woven with soft, ethereal vocals and subtle choral textures.

Deep Sleep Voices is built around choral vocals, several layers of them, resting over a soundscape that barely moves. There's no melody pulling you forward, no build toward anywhere in particular. Just a wide, held stillness that gives the mind somewhere to settle in the last stretch before sleep.

The Sound

The voices sit as their own instrument in the mix rather than as an accent on top of the music. That means they shift position: sometimes more prominent, sometimes floating as a soft texture behind everything else.

A little unlike other choral music, these choral layers are quite distinct, but with a slow tempo. Quite unusual but also highly relaxing. Still keeping minimal harmonic movement, voices used more for depth and texture. There's no peak to the music, no moment the track is building toward, -it stays close to where it starts, which is exactly what makes it useful at the end of the day.

How to Use It

Perfect for sleep and meditation, but also I've had a number of people tell me it great if you are feeling stressed or restless. On that point, here's a question/answer on how to sleep when you're feeling stressed and anxious, that goes into why steady, predictable sound tends to help more than variety does, and this track fits that description well.

Play it in the dark, volume low, somewhere in the last half hour before you'd like to be asleep. It isn't a track built to be listened to so much as one built to be underneath you while your attention lets go.

A Few Ways to Try It

  • Start close to bedtime, with the lights already down, rather than waiting until you're already trying to fall asleep.

  • Keep the volume low enough and allow those beautiful, haunting choral vocals take your from the present and help you relax towards sleep.

  • Let it run past the point you expect to be asleep. Use the audio link above, or watch the video below, which can be quite mesmerizing. If you need the longer version, please grab your own copy of it, royalty-free. 🙏
